Amazon Plans More Than €16 Billion of German Investment in 2027

Amazon plans to invest more than €16 billion in Germany in 2027, expanding a footprint that reaches from cloud computing and AI to logistics, satellite broadband and film production. It announced the plans at the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin on 20 October.

The total includes €4.8 billion for the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) cloud region and AI infrastructure. That is part of the wider package, not an additional commitment on top of the €16 billion.

Other areas include Amazon Leo satellite internet, new Prime Video productions and logistics projects. Amazon is also opening a second robotics and AI research laboratory in Berlin.

The company said related logistics projects account for more than 3,000 new jobs, but those projects had already been announced. They include upgrades to existing fulfilment centres and a new site under construction in Könnern.

Amazon says it has invested more than €100 billion in Germany since 2010 and created over 40,000 permanent jobs there. The new announcement sets out future spending plans as the company expands European infrastructure to meet demand for cloud and AI services.
