Halliburton Beats Estimates as Overseas Growth Offsets North American Weakness
Halliburton reported stronger-than-expected quarterly revenue and adjusted profit on 20 October, as growth in Latin America and Europe helped cushion weaker North American activity.
Third-quarter revenue rose 1.8% from a year earlier to $5.7 billion, above the $5.6 billion expected by analysts. Adjusted earnings were 60 cents per share against a 58-cent forecast, Reuters reported, citing LSEG data.
Latin American revenue increased 12.6% year on year, while Europe and Africa grew 22.7%. North American revenue fell 9% to $2.16 billion as US land-based pressure-pumping activity weakened.
Middle East and Asia revenue reached $1.4 billion, up 8% from the previous quarter, supported by activity in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. It was broadly unchanged from a year earlier.
Net income attributable to Halliburton was $417 million, down from $534 million in the second quarter. The adjusted earnings measure excludes certain charges and tax adjustments, so it differs from reported profit.
Chief executive Jeff Miller's early outlook calls for mid-single-digit revenue growth and an operating margin of about 15% in 2027. That forecast assumes a flat North American market and does not depend on a recovery in hydraulic fracturing there.
