LSEG Agrees $3.5 Billion Octus Deal to Expand Credit Data Business

London Stock Exchange Group agreed on 22 October to acquire credit-data provider Octus for about $3.54 billion from Permira-advised funds and Octus management, extending its push into financial information and analytics.

Octus supplies banks and investors with intelligence on credit markets, including private debt and financially distressed companies. LSEG said the business complements its existing fixed-income data products and would widen the services it offers those customers.

The purchase will be financed with external debt. LSEG expects the transaction to be neutral to adjusted earnings per share in the first full year after completion and to contribute positively thereafter.

Completion is expected in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval.

Alongside the deal, LSEG raised its 2026 outlook. It now forecasts organic growth of at least 8% in total income excluding recoveries, measured at constant exchange rates, after third-quarter performance exceeded analyst expectations, Reuters reported.
