Southeast Asia's Digital Sales Forecast to Grow 17% to $368 Billion

Southeast Asia's digital economy is projected to generate $368 billion in transaction value this year, up 17% from 2025, according to a new study by Google, Temasek and Bain & Company released on Wednesday.

The e-Conomy SEA 2026 report measures gross merchandise value: the value of goods and services sold through digital platforms. That is different from the revenue platforms retain, so the headline figure should not be read as company income.

E-commerce remains the largest component, with the study projecting $226 billion in transactions, up 18%. Online travel is expected to reach $59 billion, while mobility and food delivery are put at $40 billion.

Reuters reported that the region attracted $21 billion in digital-economy funding in the first half of 2026, compared with $11 billion throughout 2025. Two data-centre transactions accounted for $16 billion of the newer total.

That concentration matters: a stronger headline funding number does not necessarily mean financing has improved across the startup market. The sales figures are also full-year projections, not final results; the report's growth path remains an estimate.
